Miney, In Remembrance

Time with Miney always came
in small, sweet bites,
like dessert first at Wyatt’s Cafeteria.

A thousand trinkets I have in my heart,
each one with special meaning-
jigsaw puzzle pieces, hodge podge airplanes,
a plastic red truck.

In more memories than I can count
she is fun, cheerful, so excited to see us-
that sacred attention
only a grandmother can bestow.

I will forever hold dear
the vibrant colors she added to my youth.
Those pieces of my life will shine on
in my memory for decades to come.

Thank you, Miney
for the pieces of your heart
you gave to us so freely.
We will cherish them
so long as we live.
