Love between sand and sea.

Ocean breeze gently
sculpts young dune
year after year
slowly, gracefully.

Dune marvels at its beauty,
its blessing to reside there calmly,
accenting the ocean’s majesty.

Until angry skies
carry dark hurricane
with fierce, merciless gales,
tearing, searing, splitting.

Poor young dune
terrified, distraught, defeated,
languishes in the aftermath.

Years later it discovers
hidden gifts within disaster.
Now it has been reshaped
into a form far more perfect, beautiful.
It reminisces, looks back and laughs
at its youth and inexperience.

Yet as a new storm brews on the horizon,
it again begins to quake.

“My calamity is My providence, outwardly it is fire and vengeance, but inwardly it is light and mercy.”
